Sting-less Rays exit playoffs abruptly
The Hilton Head Stingrays made an abrupt exit from the playoffs this week at the hands of their arch rival Maine Maulers.
Despite all the chatter about brooms and the fact that the Hilton Head Stingrays may have cost the Maulers the division title, the Maulers quietly went into the playoffs with high expectations. "The regular season is one thing, but you have to perform when games mean the most - in the PLAYOFFS!" manager Chas Wilkins was quoted as telling his team prior to the playoff matchup. "Look at the history! We're more then capable of beating this team. The Maulers are now 16-8 against the Stingrays (although this was their first ever playoff matchup).
The Maulers entered the game quite confident when they saw the Stingrays had Fred Jackson (on season-ending IR) in the starting lineup. "We've always played them tough, so an oversite of that nature could be a critical mistake. They haven't beat us by more then 5 since 2007, so giving up a position at this time of the season is incredibly dangerous."
